hey there,here`s my latest movie poster done for the alamo drafthouse screening of hellboy.
being a long time fan of the comics i was stoked to do this.
the poster itself is gonna be available this friday(1/28) at their website.

Alejandro Jodorowsky's SANTA SANGRE movie poster

being a huge jodorowsky fan i was stoked when i got the news that this movie is being released on blu ray by severin films.in case you haven`t seen it yet i strongly suggest you check it out.
there are few movie makers that make anything so utterly insane and creative as jodorowsky did.santa sangre has been compared to hitchcock´s psycho by critics but the visuals are completely different and unique.if freud was alive he would have loved santa sangre for its rich symbolism and psychological allegories.

anyway,here is the press release info on my new print:

"The good folks at Mondo commissioned an outstanding piece of art by Florian Bertmer, (who also created this stellar Mondo poster of The Holy Mountain), for the one night only screening of Santa Sangre at the Alamo Drafthouse in Austin TX tonight. Mondo’s posters are printed in very limited numbered runs and are usually gone within minutes of going on sale. The Santa Sangre poster will be super limited run of 200. And will be available tonight at the screening at the Alamo Downtown and then tomorrow on Mondo’s website. With thanks to Mondo’s Justin Ishmael for this exclusive look."

Geez,i have been wanting to tell you about this print for quite some time but i promised Mondo to keep my mouth shut.finally it is being released - thanks to Rob for spending 70 hours doing the separations on this beast.i`m pretty sure he hates me more than hitler after this and i couldn`t blame him.
anyway,here is everybody`s favorite bounty hunter - Greedo.
i can`t tell you how many days/hours i spend on this one.it was insane....
hope you like it.lets see who can name ALL characters in the picture correctly.i think there is about 34 SW characters in here.as you can see the whole drawing was done by hand in one piece.
i have included some WIP pics for those interested in stuff like this.

Cthulhu!

here`s something in did yesterday.i have never done any sculpting but i`ve always wanted to so i got me some sculpey and tried.i`m actually kinda happy with the result.if you don`t know who this is then A) shame on you and B) check this out.
Cthulhu has always been one of my favorite characters and i always wanted a cool bust for my desk but i couldn`t find anything cool (or affordable) so i went ahead and made one myself.

hey everyone,
while i was staying in san francisco i managed to do a new print with my friends from Moon Editions.
as you might know my prints usually aren`t signed by myself due to the fact that i live in germany while my prints are made in the US.luckily i was around for the whole printing process so we decided to not only have them signed in person but give each print two hand drawn embellishments plus one hand painted higlight.
as you might guess that took quite some time haha.

Danko Jones shirt

i`ve had the pleasure of doing a shirt design for Danko Jones which was sort of a first for me.
you see usually i work with HC/Metal bands or whatever you might wanna call it.
it was fun doing something for a punk/rock n`roll band plus danko is a really cool dude which made it easy to work with him.in case you haven`t heard of him or his band check out their newest video.Lemmy is in it and that should be all you have to know to feel obliged to check out this video.oh yeah Elijah Wood and Selma Blair are in it as well...

Baba Yaga shirt

hey everyone,


for anyone who cares here`s some info on my baba yaga shirt for shirts and destroy.
i`ve always had an interest in folklore especially the really old and dark ones because they were meant to scare you or teach you a lesson.the russians in particular have some really fascinating and grim ones to tell and i`ve always wanted to do a drawing for one of these stories.
According to russian/slavic folklore there was once an old witch who flew around on a giant mortar,abducted and probably ate small children, and lived in a hut that stands on chicken legs.the fence outside is made with human bones with skulls on top.in one story the heroine Vasilisa the Beautiful took one these skulls and used it as a lantern.
The text in the banner was taken from a poem by the famous russian poet A.A.Blok titled "To the Muse" and the text goes:

такая влекущая сила,                   And such an alluring strength
Что готов я твердить за молвой,      That I'm ready to pass on the rumor
Будто ангелов ты низводила,         That you brought angels down
Соблазняя своей красотой...         With your seductive beauty...
